Season Ends Sooner than Expected

Season Ends Sooner than Expected

Fantasy Island usually close soon after the school half-term in late October. Nonetheless, last year the park made the move to extend the season by opening selected rides throughout November. The same was planned for this year. However the season has suddenly been cut short, as the official website now states that the season is over.

Reduced ride availability and low staff levels similarly indicate that stringent cost cutting appears to have been taking place at the park recently. Jubilee Odyssey was closed before the half term week, with parts of the train already being disassembled; ready for winter storage.

The market remains open weekends until Christmas and events are still being held in the bars.

Park Sponsors Boston United FC

Park Sponsors Boston United FC

Boston United have signed a five-year contract with Fantasy Island Family Resort to sponsor the Main Stand at The Jakemans Stadium.

As a direct result of the sponsorship deal, the Main Stand will now be known as The Fantasy Island Stand until the completion of the 2013-2014 campaign.

Fantasy Island signage will grace the frontage of the stand and will be erected in the near future — giving the stand a major facelift in the process.

Reflecting on the news, United commercial manager Craig Singleton told “It is a major coup for the football club to have attracted Fantasy Island to sponsor the Main Stand and we are really looking forward to developing a mutually beneficial partnership over the next five seasons.

“I am sure that The Fantasy Island Stand will be a tremendous addition to the stadium.

“At this juncture, I would like to thank James Parker and everybody at Fantasy Island for their fantastic support.”

James Parker of Fantasy Island added: “We were approached by Boston United with a package that fitted perfectly with our long-term community goals.

“Under the new ownership management here at Fantasy Island, we are keen to work with Boston United as a partnership to move onwards and upwards.

“Fantasy Island are committed to working with a wide variety of people and projects to help all involved achieve their targets within the community.”

Most Thrill Rides Remain Closed

Most Thrill Rides Remain Closed

It's almost a month into the new season, yet most of the park's thrill rides are yet to open. As a result of Odyssey stalling during testing, the wheels on the train were replaced. Since then, there have been issues with the lift hill motor. Similarly, Volcanic Impact and Absolutely Insane are awaiting inspection from S&S before they can reopen, although reports from the park suggest that the cables have been replaced on Absolutely Insane, and new safety beacons have been spotted atop two of the towers. Amazing Confusion has also been subject to downtime as it sheared a drive pin, the decision was made to replace all twenty. Unfortunately, it looks as though these rides could remain closed for some time as the park are working with the ride manufacturers in an attempt to get them reopen as soon as possible.

Car Park Now Pay and Display

Car Park Now Pay and Display

Both Fantasy Island car parks now operate using pay and display. Tickets should be purchased, from one of several machines in the car park, to be displayed in the windscreen of vehicles using the car parks. Unfortunately, the car parks are no longer free to use after 6pm, as the new system is in operation 24 hours a day throughout the week. The price is for the whole day, but varies depending on the point in season.

However you could use alternative car parks, located on Sea Lane/Roman Bank, just a short walk away from the park itself. Make sure that you check out our other trip tips on our trip planning pages before of your visit.
