News Desk Upgrades

The news archive has now been categorised. This is to make it easier for visitors to find specific news items based upon what the article has been filed as. Articles are filed by who posted the article and assigned a category. News is also filtered into annual archives (2006)(2007) based upon the date the article was posted.

The following tags are used to categorise articles; General Park News, Jubilee Odyssey, Millennium Coaster, Absolutely Insane, Volcanic Impact, Amazing Confusion, The BEAST, Fantasy Mouse, Rhombus Rocket, Fantasea Flume, Coconut Twist, Wreckers Cove, Grand Prix Go-Kart, Childrens Rides, Retired Rides, Future Development, The Market, Nearby Attractions, Maintenance, Winter News, Trip Reports, IQ News, Events, Ownership and Misc. The news archive is then filtered to display only the relevant articles for the selected tag. Similarly, posts can be searched by their poster; in doing so, only articles posted by the selected author would be displayed.

The news archive has also been configured to make the most of social bookmarking services. Digg,, furl, and a number other bookmarking services can be used directly from a selected news article. In doing so, the relevant service is opened, allowing visitors to help promote the article around the web. A "Discuss" link is also evident on selected news articles, allowing readers to share their own views and opinions on the issue in the related Island Quest forum.

Big Changes at Island Quest

Big Changes at Island Quest

You may have already spotted that at last the long awaited Fantasy Island unofficial site that is Island Quest is now coming together. We are now around the halfway mark in developing the site, with many sections now online!

Each section of Island Quest now has some content, simply click the buttons and begin discovering our new sections. A few highlights - Park History offers a neatly compiled history report from before Fantasy Island to the present day. Rides & Attractions is still coming together but already offers in depth profile pages for some of the White Knuckle Thrills at Fantasy Island. To help you plan your day at the park better we now have a calendar of off peak and peak days in the Opening Times area, we also have a useful chart of Height Restrictions and Park Prices. Also make sure you check out the one and only bible of tips to make you’re day at Fantasy Island one to remember in Trip Tips.

Aside from the new sections, the structure of the site has also advanced this includes new rollover buttons and automatic date function in the header. Island Quest is now also cross browser compatible, meaning that no matter what your favourite browser is you will be able to browse our site.

Behind the scene we’re currently working on a gallery, complete with high quality photography of Fantasy Island in the winter, construction of rides and the skyline from a different points of view. We are also working to get pages online for every ride. The entire site could near completion towards the end of March and will be by far complete for the summer season.

We would like to hear your feedback, please put your thoughts and ideas to us at the forums. Update

It's been a while since there has been any mention of how the site is coming along, time for an update! Although its only just started beginning to show online, site development is drawing to an end. We have now officially completed all content for the site including photos, video footage, desktop wallpapers and of course all text content. It’s now *just* a matter of getting the thing online which is going to involve allot of work on our code developer James.

To give you an idea what we have been working on for all this time: in terms of media we've got multi angle video footage of most rides and a gallery of hundreds of photos. Downloads are a plenty including installable programs, desktop wallpapers and add on packs for your favourite theme park games and simulators. In terms of sections, we will be adding a bible of handy trip tips and Fantasy Island LIVE updates. Interactive dedicated pages for each and every ride will be available as well as annual year books to take a look back at seasons long since passed.

If you’re a fan of our regular news service you will be pleased to hear that we will soon have a full archive of news online dating back as far as 2002. Island Quest won't just also focus entirely on Fantasy Island we will be adding sections for Botton's, Butlins and other nearby attractions.

So when will this all be online? I've learnt through time to never set launch or deadline dates as they are rarely ever met ... To that note I could be cruel and say 'it will be done when its done' however, as a rough estimate I'd say March *could* be the finish line. Stayed tuned, its going to be worth the wait!
