They Think It's All Over, Not Quite

Like most other parks around the UK, Fantasy Island close their rides around this time of year. With this past Sunday being the last day of regular business, news comes in that a limited selection of rides will be available for the next two weekends; the 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th November. However, don't get your hopes up for anything major, the Millennium train has already been removed for winter storage and maintenance, as well as this it's been noted that the Safari train has been dismantled and maintenance have been spotted working on Fantasy Mouse. Rides confirmed to be open are Techno Jump, Coconut Twist and a selection of other childrens rides. This limited selection will open between 11am and 3pm.

Still, if you're in the area looking out for a bargain or two, the market will remain open for weekends only through 'til Christmas.

The past season has been a year of ups and downs. Absolutely Insane never got off the ground; despite its cart being reattached. A year of speculation suggesting that the attraction would be leaving the park has now come full circle, as there's now talk that the ride can't be sold. Therefore hope remains that the ride will remain at the park and reopen next year. A staggering amount of downtime for Beast this year also left the park without yet another of their big thrill rides for ten weeks. On the bright side however, both Millennium and Odyssey have had a significantly productive year as we welcomed the reduced cost of Jubilee tokens. Plans for next year include a mini golf course, and more market stalls. The season may be over, but the Island Quest forums are still open for you to discuss your thoughts about anything and everything relating to Fantasy Island.

Proposal for Market Expansion

Proposal for Market Expansion

Recently, Fantasy Island have submitted a planning application for 96 new market stalls to be erected and 4 portable buildings to be used as toilet facilities. As well as this, there's plans to use a portion of the existing caravan site as extra car parking spaces. It's likely that this relates to the drainage work being carried out on the car park throughout this year. This means that the market could be expanding outward over the car park from next season.

Plans to Demolish Red BJ's Rejected

Plans to Demolish Red BJ's Rejected

At the beginning of this year, there was a planning application submitted to East Lindsey District Council to demolish the defunct BJ's amusement arcade, cafe and bowling alley. The land would then be used to construct a small housing estate consisting of 12 houses. The plans were rejected and it remains to be seen what becomes of the building at the West side of Sea Lane. The BJ's amusement arcade located almost opposite Fantasy Island is unaffected by these plans.

Crazy Plans for 2009

Crazy Plans for 2009

Plans for a crazy golf course next year were recently unearthed on the Island Quest forums. The golf course will be located beside the Go Kart track; weaving between the supports for the Odyssey and Millennium roller coasters. Little construction work has already taken place, but the area has been fenced off and cleared ready for work to begin over the winter.

Long term visitors to the park will remember that Fantasy Island once featured a crazy golf course, once situated behind Volcanic Impact between 2001 and 2003. It's unknown whether the new course will use some (or even all) of the old material used for the course itself.

The official Fantasy Island website is due an overhaul ready for the new season as well. Whilst the current website is beginning to show its age, this move is more likely provoked by the change in ownership than an actual need to redesign the website.

New Rides Hotline Number
Posted By Chris on Saturday 11th October 2008 @ 1:56 PM | Filed Under: General Park News

New Rides Hotline Number

Fantasy Island have changed their ride hotline telephone number to 01754 615860. The service is intended to inform visitors as to what rides will be operational on the day of their visit. It's particularly encouraged at times of unpredictable weather conditions for prospective visitors to call the hotline. By calling the old number, callers are informed that the number has changed to 01754 615860.

Thanks to Island Quest forum member Leon.
