Park Preview Takeover Fantasy Island

Fantasy Island is scheduled to be accommodating a planned visit by Park Preview; a website dedicated to all theme parks. Park Preview are planning on recording point of view footage and other footage of the park whilst they're there. This visit is being held on Friday, June 6th at Fantasy Island, before taking over nearby Pleasure Island the next day. Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend, but are requested to make themselves known on the thread over at the Park Preview website.

Impressively, the organisers have managed to persuade Fantasy Island to open Jubilee Odyssey and Millennium Roller Coaster a whole two hours earlier. This early ride time is only available to visitors who have arranged to take part beforehand. Moreso, discount ride tokens will also be available for these people who will be able to take advantage of no queue time and an uninterrupted ride experience.

Cosmetic Improvements

Cosmetic Improvements

It's a good few months into the park's thirteenth season, time for an update.

Rides
Absolutely Insane hasn't been in action so far this year, yet there are signs of life as the carriage is once again in place. This is a vast improvement over this time last year, when the carriage was still in pieces awaiting repair. Nevertheless, none of the safety beacons atop the towers, are working. New cables have also been sighted in the maintenance shed; the same issue that kept it from opening before July last year. However, it's unconfirmed whether spare cables were simply stocked there. Both Millennium and Odyssey were both successfully operating throughout this past weekend, with near to full loads on trains. However, Odyssey had a few hiccups as it kept over riding in the station so that the restraint release mechanism wasn't working. This was soon rectified after being closed for a short while.

Cosmetics
Cosmetic improvements have been noticed around the park recently. IQ forum member, Stig, reported late last season that Amazing Confusion was beginning to look faded, he also noted that Millennium's supports were a bit 'grubby'. Now, both rides have received a paint job. Whilst Amazing Confusion 'looks as good as new', Millennium's supports have only been partially painted in bright red. Patches are still noticeable with only the grey undercoat on. Similarly, Volcanic Impact is noted to be adorning new flag poles after it was seen without any back in March.

Finally, buy one get one free vouchers for tokens are no longer featured in promotional leaflets or in the FunCoast brochure. Despite this, they are still available inside copies of the Skegness Standard.

Thanks to IQ forum member Martyn for the info.

Plans Approved for Car Park
Posted By Chris on Friday 2nd May 2008 @ 1:17 PM | Filed Under: Future Development

Plans Approved for Car Park

The plans to make alterations to the main car park have been approved. Work had already been started before the plans were submitted, which didn't go down too well with East Lindsay District Council planning department. When submitted, the plans weren't really anything to write home about; unless you happen to take an unhealthy interest in car parks. No new rides, no new arena, just plans for improving water drainage, reinstatement of vehicular access and resurfacing. It's possible that this work is being carried out in relation to the rumoured replacement of caravans on the site next to the car park with log cabins. Either way, adequate drainage should lessen the amount of surface water on the car park.

Fantasy Island Re-opens for 2008

Today Fantasy Island opens its gates for the first time to budding tourists once again for the new 2008 season. This is the parks 13th season. Unlike promises suggested, no new attractions have been unveiled for this season. The park is now open until April 20th; a limited selection of the park will open between April 20th and 24th, then again between April 28th and May 2nd. The park will be fully open on a daily basis from May 3rd, until the end of the season. As always, the park recommend calling the rides hotline (01754 874668) to check available facilities, or to help maximise your enjoyment take a peek at our own trip planning pages.

Millennium has already been seen being tested recently, and the majority of rides should be ready for the Easter weekend at least. Reportedly, there hasn't been any work carried out within the pyramid, that had been predicted before the end of the 2007 season. It's also speculated that Conduit Leisure take control of the park completely during this season. So, it'll be interesting to see what, if anything, happens to the park over the coming months.

The Market has already been open on weekends since the beginning of the month. From March 22nd, it will open on a daily basis right through to the end of the season. After which, the market will only open at weekends until Christmas.
