Digging the Future

Digging the Future

Sightings have been made of construction work occurring on land adjacent to Fantasy Island recently. Several mounds of earth have been excavated from the ground. The work could be the first signs of footings for a new development. Despite casino plans being shelved last year, it might be suggested that this work is for the new arena.

In related news; the caravans in the area, next to Jubilee Odyssey's station and Fantasy Island car park, were seen to be removed, at the end of November last year. This was prior to this work being carried out, but fuels speculation regarding the future use of the land. New caravans or chalets are both possibilities. Therefore complimenting the area as more of a family resort.

Is Absolutely Insane Safe with the Pyramid?

Is Absolutely Insane Safe with the Pyramid?

There’s a glimmer of hope for anyone who feared the demise of Absolutely Insane. However, it’s planned for the 240ft high sky sling to stay with the park for at least one more season. The bad news is that when Conduit Leisure takes the reins of control over the park in May, Absolutely Insane, Balloon ride, Mini Dodgems, Jellikins, the Toucan Tours Monorail and Jungle ride are all set for the chop.

The overhaul is speculated to take place as part of a complete renovation of the Pyramid in the winter of 2008. As well as an attempt to help the park fit in with Conduit Leisure’s plans to become a ‘family resort’, the removal of Absolutely Insane is more likely due to the recent problems it had over the 2007 season. Although it’s unconfirmed, make sure you make the most of the possible final year Absolutely Insane will be at the park.

Techno Jump is Armless

Two weeks ago, the arms for Techno Jump were seen being loaded onto a lorry. After being removed for scheduled maintenance, they’re heading back to the ride manufacturer, Satori, in Italy. The arms are being repaired and hopefully should be back at the park by the time the 2008 season begins.

In other off season news, the indoor themeing has reportedly been removed from inside the pyramid. Look out for more off season news over the coming weeks, and a special report as we make a trip to the park ourselves. In the meantime, check out the forums for all the latest in off season speculation, fact and gossip.
