We would like to wish a very Mery Christmas and all the Beast for the New Year.

We'll be bringing you more riveting coverage of developments in and around the Fantasy Island Market in 2011, as well as more exciting coverage of ride unavailability from "Britain's First Themed Indoor Family Resort and Amusement Park".

Galloping into 2011

As another year has passed, Fantasy Island has once again closed for winter and our discussion forums are rife with speculation about developments occurring at the park. A particularly shocking revelation is that Gallopers, the park's carousel, has already been removed from the park and is unlikely to return for the 2011 season. Having been installed in 1995, the traditional carousel is one of the oldest rides at the park. The ride has been prone to a significant amount of downtime in recent years, with the ride being unavailable for a number of months during both the 2009 and 2010 seasons. More changes are afoot for the 2011 season, as it is anticipated that a number of children's rides are due to be moved to their former location adjacent to The Beast and the Log Flume. At this stage it remains unclear as to what will take their place.

Thanks to SLY 1 EA, Martyn, and Steve for the updates.

John Woodward Dies

John Woodward, chairman and managing director of Blue Anchor Leisure, has passed away.
Woodward was responsible for successfully developing Fantasy Island and the surrounding Ingoldmells area into what it is today. His services to tourism were recognised in 2005 when he received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. With the sale of Fantasy Island in 2006, Woodward was listed as one of the wealthiest people in Britain. His lasting impression on Ingoldmells is reflected in the amazing selection of rides and attractions at Fantasy Island, as well as the 20 caravan parks he has invested in over the years.

Amazing Confusion Remains Closed

Amazing Confusion Remains Closed

Amazing Confusion, the world’s first and only Mondial Ultra Max, has now been unavailable for over four months. When we first reported on this in June, a section of seats had been removed, providing access to the main arm. Since then, the ride has been almost completely deconstructed, with pieces of the ride scattered in various locations across the park. A section of the main support structure has reportedly been sent to Mondial to be repaired. At this stage, it remains unclear when Amazing Confusion will reopen.

Thanks to quin, Martyn, SLY 1 EA, vectra, samliverpool and sherman454 from the Island Quest forums for providing information and photos.
