New Community Radio Station

A new community radio station recently launched in Ingoldmells. Named Bracin’ Radio, the station is based at Fantasy Island and is currently broadcasting around the amusement park as well as online. The station has been described by Ron Searle (General Manager at Fantasy Island) as “an opportunity to bring the community and commercial worlds of Skegness and Ingoldmells together in an exciting, new and engaging way”. A number of presenters with a diverse range of music is already filling the schedule, complemented by non-stop music during non-presented time slots. The full schedule is available to view on the station’s website, where you can also listen to the live stream. There are long term plans for the station to eventually broadcast over FM as well as satellite television services.

Volcanic Impact Reopens

Volcanic Impact has recently reopened. The S&S Space Shot had been standing but not operating since the end of last year; whilst awaiting replacement parts. Fantasy Island reported in early July that parts were being fitted after “complications”. It’s unclear what these complications were, but the ride has since reopened for guests to enjoy the view from the top of the park’s tallest ride.

Updated: Rave Event Returning to Fantasy Island?

Update 3rd April 2012: The event’s organisers have clarified the concerns over the licence for the event previously reported in the press. In a statement on the Fantasy Island Events Facebook fan page, the organisers have stated that the licence has already been granted for the beach party. The licence for Fantasy Island has been submitted to East Lindsey District Council to be extended beyond its current 5,000 person limit (which Fantasy Island already holds for current events). If approved, the event would be entitled to support up to 10,000 guests and it is expected that more Policing and security would attend to ease the fears of local residents.

Original Article:
Fantasy Island are co-hosting an all night dance festival on Saturday 19th May 2012.

The event is being organised by Pleasuredome and will feature 15 hours of music, two outdoor stages, six arenas, circus freaks, fire breathers and rides. Outdoor rides will be open until 11pm, with indoor rides expected to remain open throughout the night. Joe’s Beach Bar will be utilised as a secondary venue where a beach party is planned to compliment the entertainment at Fantasy Island.

The plans have been already been met with disapproval from local residents. In a move to reassure those concerned, James Parker from Fantasy Island has highlighted that they’re anticipating 3000 people to attend this event; which is less than would normally be at the venue during the height of the season. To further reduce disturbance to local residents, it is expected that the event will move to the beach from 4am with guests being marshalled by event staff.

Similar events have been held before at the park, with the most recent in June 2009 being reported as a huge success by organisers; despite a small number of complaints from local residents. It is unclear whether this event will go ahead as the licence for this event has reportedly been revoked with a recommendation for the organisers to contact East Lindsey District Council. . More information about the licence for the event has been updated at the top of this article.

There are several ticket options for the event ranging from £20 to £44; with more expensive ticket options also including access to the rides at Fantasy Island. Tickets are available to purchase from The Ticket Sellers.

Plans for 2012

Plans for 2012

Fantasy Island are developing a new children's soft play area, expanding the market and planning more events.

The children's play area will be a self-contained area inside the pyramid complex on the second level. When completed, the play area will feature ball pools, rope bridges and ladders set to an adventure theme. The renovation project will also include a new dining area and separate area for party packages that the park hope to launch. Park directors are keen to get the children's play area open for June. New costume characters, the Butt Ugly Martians, are also expected to make appearances at the park this year.

Fantasy Island are also planning to create a new area aimed at teenagers. This new area is intended to feature simulators, a shop and a new concept of gaming within the pyramid complex.

As well as launching the children's soft play area in June, Fantasy Island are holding events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee; with a live radio broadcast and a street party. Duncan Goodhew, Olympic gold medal winner, will also be making a special appearance when the Olympic Torch passes through Skegness.

Despite being refused planning permission numerous times over the last few years, the park are still pushing for the market to be expanded further to the rear of the site. As well as more stalls, it is anticipated that there will be a broader range of products available.

The park management are keen to demonstrate how the park will develop over the next few years as well as their their commitment to Ingoldmells and Skegness as a resort. Laurence Davis, Fantasy Island’s chief executive, is keen to point out that "We [Fantasy Island] are not sitting on our laurels we are making things happen and plan to invest further capital in the site over the next five years". Nonetheless, the other projects forecasted to open this season have both been postponed. The Asylum and Splash Zone have been put on hold until at least 2013.

New Age Restrictions
Posted By Chris on Wednesday 21st March 2012 @ 7:25 PM | Filed Under: General Park News

New Age Restrictions

Fantasy Island have introduced new restrictions for riding some of their more intense thrill rides. Under the new rules, guests have to be at least 12 years old to ride Beast, Amazing Confusion and Volcanic Impact. However, the age restriction is not a factor at other parks which operate identical rides and only enforce the height requirements. Due to this change, Fantasy Island have adjusted the age brackets for wristband pricing for adults and children. Under the new structure, anyone over the age of 12 will now be considered an adult.
